Serving Miss Hillary: A Slave Narrative

TNU admires the Clintons.

No, seriously... we do.

Bill was the first President to actively give people of color a high profile presence in his White House Cabinet and lip-serviced black people to death about his crusade for Civil Rights (though he never did sign that Civil Rights Bill by the way). Because of our excitement for being invited to sit at the benevolent massah's table, many black people - rich and poor alike - have developed a best-friends-forever bond with the Clinton legacy.

But, let's consider a few facts. While Clinton remarkably balanced the United States budget by his second term (::golf claps::), over in Black America we saw poverty spike, violent crime almost triple and watched HIV and cancer-related deaths increase while those of other groups fell.

But every now and then Bill would eat a piece of fried chicken in public or, even better, throw us a party. Yay!!!

Maxine Waters would show up at the party in in bright red lipstick and pearls... Then Magic Johnson wearing something purple and too large. And here comes Russell Simmons (alone, Kimora isn't allowed at State dinners). Clinton's affirmative action presidency was cute. Lots of diversity photo-ops. Meanwhile the black mass got the short end of the stick.

So for those of us who are behind Hillary, because we think she'll do what Bill did for black people... Be careful what you wish for...

Let's also examine all this "experience" Hillary's got.... Oh wait, she's never had ANY real executive experience. ONLY 6 years of legislative experience as a New York Senator (compared to Barack Obama's two years, how negligible a difference is that?). She led a health care initiative that Bill threw her in '94 but that failed. And I'm confused. She says she has 35 years of experience, but she's 61. Girl, what were "executing" at 27, rockin' those balled up head bands?

And, honestly, the only thing that can really prepare you for being President of the United States is being President of the United States. Period.

Also consider that we're voting for the President of the free world -- a world that's seen a lot change since 1992. And hasn't a commitment to "changing" guards always been the strength of American democracy?

I'm not telling anyone who to vote for, kids (if Barack wasn't an option TNU would be riding w/ Edwards), but let's at least be --unafraid-- to move forward.

Writer Trey Ellis on Hillary:

Hillary: You're the opposite of George Bush. He is the smiling incompetent, you're the stone-faced hyper-competent. A good friend of mine who worked for you and your family calls you Tracy Flick, Reese Witherspoon's brittle, brown-nosing character running for school president in the movie Election. It's probably already too late but you need to become a real person again. There is some crazy realty show coming on where this guy tries to deprogram beauty queens and turn them back into real women who no longer wave with just an upright, cupped hand. You need someone like him to get you dressed down, hair loose and let us know from the heart what you dream about for the future of this nation. Listen to Obama's magnificent Iowa victory speech. Don't talk to us about fear of the unknown, talk to us about the magnificent new American century that you would like to share with us.

Hilary is challenged in so many ways. They often say that attractive women aren't taken seriously but come on...is she trying to channel Eleanor Roosevelt with that mug? Not everyone needs to be as shallow as I am but a little Botox wouldn't kill her...especially since Im sure most American women would easily let Edwards or Obama get it.

You also forgot about her experience cleaning Bills saxophone. I mean the one he played on Arsenio, Im pretty sure she hasn't laid a hand on the other one in years...

IF BARACK DOESNT WIN THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION. VOTE FOR TEH REPUBLICAN RON PAUL. HE'S THE REALEST DUDE OUT THERE. ALL THE MEDIA IS SHUNNING HIM AND NOT ALLOWING HIM TO DEBATE.

Don't you mean Diane Watson and not Maxine Waters? As far as I know, Waters has not endorsed. Watson has. I checked the website and didn't find her name on it. I am an early supporter of Obama but I don't knock folk who decide to go with Hillary. Having a woman president would be as monumental as having a Black man. I like Obama cause he is refreshing not because he is Black. Just saying...

Now I dislike Hillary immensely and am planning on voting for Obama in the primaries, but listen, New Urban. You're making a rookie mistake. Make your points without bringing race into it. How can I take your points seriously after you bring up the racial stuff? Now you have made yourself look biased, and the Edwards comment at the end didn't do enough to cover it. Do not make race part of the issue, because it's not. You want race to stop being brought up and considered as a factor for elections and such? You have to stop doing it too.
